SEL Program (Sophomore Experiential Learning)

Work experience with computers

Are you a sophomore?  Not sure which career path to choose? Want to make sure you're in the right major? Try the SEL Program!

The program is a 24-40 hour job shadow mentoring program.  Once completed, a notation will be put on your transcript saying you completed the internship job shadowing program.

This program is available during Winter Break.

Anyone interested in participating must attend an Information Session.  Dates for the session and application deadlines will be available on the internship website homepage.

Directions

Complete Sections A and B on the application. Print out the completed application and attach all documents itemized in Section C. 

Make sure you sign your application and receive a signature from your faculty advisor.

*A minimum GPA of 2.0 is required for the SEL Program, however a 2.5 GPA is preferred.

Industry Preference and Location of Experience

When indicating industry preference, a geographic area and the time period in which you would like to complete your experience; please note that we cannot always match your desired industry preference or geographic location. We will discuss the location with you before you are assigned.

Application Packet

Please sign and attach the following items:

  1. Signed application form
  2. Student contract
  3. Transcript for Bloomsburg University
  4. 300 word essay with detailed explanation of why you are interested in participating in the SEL Program. Include how your background and/or interest may connect to your chosen field.

*Bring application packet to the Office of Academic Internships in Student Services Center (Room 144)

On completion of SEL Program

In order to get a notation on your transcript, you must bring the following completed items to the Office of Academic Internships:

  1. Student Survey
  2. Employer Evaluation
  3. Copy of the "Thank You" note
