Overview of steps
What is my first step?
First, think about your organization needs and create an internship job description.
- What will the student do?
- What are some projects that will be involved in the internship?
- What skill-sets or qualifications will the student need for this internship?
- What knowledge will the student gain from the internship?
After I have an internship description, what do I do?
Once the description is written, fill out the internship description form and press "submit." We will then email you an Affiliation Agreement to sign.
What is an Affiliation Agreement?
An Affiliation Agreement is a basic legal document between Bloomsburg University and your organization and is usually signed for a 5 year period. Once you sign the Affiliation Agreement, we will post your internship job opportunity on our internship website and promote through media such as the student newspaper, facebook, and our bulletin board. Students search the listings by major. You will join approximately 2,000 other organizations who have active Affiliation Agreements with the Office of Academic Internships. Signing the Affiliation Agreement does not mean you have to take an intern. You and your organization will make that decision.
Can I affiliate without an internship job description?
Your organization may contact us for an Affiliation Agreement even if you are not sure when you will need an intern but are interested in affiliating with our university. Affiliating with the university will give you the opportunity to post available internships with us at any time and students will be able to apply for internships at your organization. Our Affiliation Agreement is good for up to 5 years with your organization.
Do students get credit for the internship?
Students typically do internships for 3 credits. For a 3 credit internship, the student will work at your organization for 120 hours. Students can receive credit and pay for the internships. Students appreciate pay, even if it is a stipend. The pay can help with gas and books.
