Intern Success Story

Joanna Schmolk –
Senior Speech Pathology Major

My summer internship was through Abington Speech Pathology Services (ASPS). I was paired with an ASPS Speech and Language Pathologist at the United Cerebral Palsy of Philadelphia Best Friends integrated pre-school, located in Chestnut Hill, Philadelphia. This pre-school consisted of children with learning disabilities, physical disabilities, mental retardation, as well as children without any special needs at all. For five weeks I experienced how these children interacted with each other on a daily basis. During this time I observed and participated in speech therapy of children with disabilities. This internship was an amazing experience that has reinforced my dreams of becoming a Speech and Language Pathologist.

Seniors and Graduate Students – Entrepreneurial Panel and Discussion November 12th 5:00-7:00pm Kehr Union Ballroom Think about starting your own business? The office of Academic Internships is sponsoring a panel of entrepreneurial business representatives. The reps will discuss ways to take an idea from conception to implementation as well as the do’s and don’ts for starting your own business. To sign up you will need to email us at astbriggs@bloomu.edu. Your email will be your commitment to attend the event. This event will be capped at 40 students and is only available to seniors and graduate students.
